    • MEXICO

      • Ernesto Diesmartinez <ernesto@informacion.ccs.net.mx>
In Mexico there's no big organizations related with autism. In Mexico City there's two organizations of parents only are working in Mexico City, not in all the country. In Culiacan --where I live, in the Pacific Coast-- we have the ASA (Asociacion Sinaloense de Autismo: Sinaloa's Autism Society) but also is little.
So, how can I help in the A-day?. Well, I'm write in several newspapers in Mexico. I'm a film critic and also I work writing about science in newspapers. In fact, I've been writing some articles about autism in the past weeks. I work in the Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa (Sinaloa's Science Center), an educacional-science organization. In the Centro de Ciencias de Sinaloa, I think, we can do conferences, show movies, sell books, all related with autism. Well, this was only an idea...

    • AUSTRALIA

    • FRANCE

      • Paul Trehin <ptrehin@vnet.ibm.com> or <Trehincp@aol.com>, Riviera
Father of Gilles, 25 years old, very independent autistic adult.
I participate in two parent societies:
In France: UNAPEI, which is a parent society regrouping several categories of people with mental handicaps. Among them, severely handicapped autistic children, adolescents and adults. I am a member of the board of directors.
At the European level, I represent UNAPEI at the AUTISM EUROPE parent society. Autism Europe's next general assembly is on November 22-23 in Germany. I plan to announce the A-Day project there. I did announce it at UNAPEI and it was well received.
In these parent societies, very few independent autistic adults are participating. However, there is a beginning of activity with regard to self advocacy.
